Earn While You Learn

At HGC, we're committed to fostering the next generation of construction professionals through paid internship opportunities. This rare blend of practical, real-world experience mixed with relationship building and mentorship helps prepare both college and high school students for successful careers in the industry. Our ‘earn while you learn’ approach gives these young adults financial stability throughout the summer which allows them to be one step ahead upon completion of the program.

In addition to individualized experiences, we proudly offer the following to our interns:

  • 5-day orientation and safety training
  • Hands-on field experience with our different resource groups (based on interests and career goals)
  • Ride-alongs and job shadowing with HGC leaders
  • Regular check-ins with the Team Development Group
  • Exit interview to provide feedback for program improvements

DigIn!

Our DigIn! Internship program for high school students is a six-week paid internship designed for recent graduates who are at least 18 years old. This program provides invaluable exposure to various aspects of construction, helping young adults better understand their career paths while learning the basics of the sitework industry.

Designed to bring classroom learning to life. In the beginning, we work with each student to map out a customized internship, taking into consideration interests, past experience, as well as previous and future academic studies. Our goal is to provide a structured environment where interns are mentored, coached, upskilled, and developed in a way that allows them to reach their full potential.
