Celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month: Embracing Diversity and Inclusion at HGC
As we step into Hispanic Heritage Month, it’s the perfect time to highlight our commitment to a diverse and inclusive workforce at HGC. From September 15th to October 15th, we are proud to celebrate the rich cultural heritage of Hispanic communities and recognize the immense value that diversity brings to our team.
At HGC, we believe our strength lies in our diverse backgrounds, skills, and perspectives. By encouraging an inclusive environment, we ensure that every team member feels valued, respected, and empowered to contribute their best. Our dedication to diversity goes beyond simply representation; it’s about building a culture where everyone can thrive and make a meaningful impact.
“We have so many different career opportunities to offer people interested in joining the industry. Every time I speak with a potential candidate, I can confidently say this is a workplace where they will feel included and appreciated for who they are and there is no ceiling to what they can achieve.”
– Eric Almeda, Bilingual Recruiter at HGC
Bilingual Leadership and Training
Effective communication is crucial in construction, especially when it comes to safety. To address this, we prioritize providing our Spanish-speaking teammates with the support they need. From day one, new hires benefit from Spanish-speaking orientation and bilingual recruiters who ensure a smooth onboarding process.
Our training programs, available for free to all teammates, are designed to be inclusive, with Spanish subtitles and bilingual trainers. This ensures everyone has the opportunity to receive high-quality instruction, regardless of their primary language. This commitment extends to our company-wide communications and our field leadership, where many of our Superintendents, Foremen, and other field leaders are fluent in Spanish, ensuring that language barriers do not hinder anyone’s success or safety.
Skills and Experience for Everyone
At HGC, we welcome individuals of all skill levels and experience. Whether you’re a seasoned professional or new to the industry, our tailored training programs are designed to meet your needs and career goals. New hires benefit from additional field training and our Green Hard Hat program, which helps them integrate smoothly into their roles.
“I’m proud to have the role that I do because I can bridge communication gaps and ensure all teammates fully understand our safety protocols and expectations. It’s not just about compliance, it’s about creating a positive environment for our teammates to be the best versions of themselves.”
– Brayan Lopez, Bilingual Safety Trainer at HGC
The HGC Academy, established in 2020, offers industry-leading training with over 100 classes and videos covering equipment operation, jobsite safety, and professional development, many of which are available in both Spanish and English. Equipped with state-of-the-art simulators and expert trainers, our Academy is dedicated to helping every team member build confidence and excel to their fullest potential.
Looking Ahead During Hispanic Heritage Month
As we celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month, we reaffirm our commitment to evolving into an even more inclusive and diverse organization. We are proud of the variety of talents and experiences that each teammate brings to HGC and are excited about the creative solutions and innovations that come from our collective efforts.
Here’s to honoring these teammates and continuing to build a workplace where everyone can be their best. Happy Hispanic Heritage Month!
