Extraordinary Aim, Extraordinary Impact: HGC’s Clay Shoot Raises $220,000 for Dream On 3
At HGC, our commitment to community impact grows stronger each year through our partnership with Dream On 3. This year’s HGC Clay Shoot event demonstrated the incredible power of bringing industry partners together for a cause bigger than ourselves, raising a remarkable $220,000 to help make sports dreams come true for kids and teens living with life-altering conditions.
The beautiful grounds of Rocky River Sporting Clays set the stage for our most successful event to date, hosting 43 teams comprising 172 shooters from across the construction industry. The energy was awesome as both returning teams and newcomers gathered to support an amazing cause.
A Dreamer's Perspective
The day’s highlights included hearing from Dream Kid Alumni Luke Rainwater, who shared his powerful story with attendees. Luke is a dynamic nine-year-old who lives life to the fullest despite the challenges he faces. He was born with Spina Bifida in his lower spine, hydrocephalus, scoliosis, and syrinx of his spinal cord – all of which have limited his mobility and require him to have 24/7 care to help accomplish basic daily activities such as moving from his bed to his wheelchair, tying his shoes, or brushing his teeth.
Luke’s experience with Dream On 3 took place in 2019, and his ultimate sports dream was to attend a New York Yankees game at Yankee Stadium. Thanks to the organization’s efforts, Luke and his family were able to enjoy an unforgettable day at the ballpark, cheering on his favorite team.
In his remarks, Luke described the profound impact this dream experience had on him and he gave a firsthand account of the impact his dream had on both him and his family. It served as a touching reminder to event attendees of the importance of their support. His presence helped connect participants directly to the mission, celebrating not just his own dream experience, but also the life-changing journeys of all past, present, and future Dream Kids who benefit from the organization’s work.
Industry Support
The construction industry’s remarkable solidarity was on full display at HGC’s clay shoot event this year. Our sponsors, representing some of the most respected names in construction, demonstrated their unwavering commitment to giving back to our community. Their generous contributions went far beyond financial support – they showed that when our industry comes together, we can create meaningful change in the lives of others.

The Impact of Volunteering
Behind every successful event stands an army of dedicated volunteers who deserve our deepest gratitude. From the early morning setup crew to the scoring teams, and everyone in between, our volunteers demonstrated the true spirit of community service. Their tireless efforts before, during, and after the event ensured that every detail was perfect and every participant had an outstanding experience.
Celebrating Success
This year’s Clay Shoot marked a significant milestone in our fundraising efforts, generating over $220,000 – the highest amount ever raised at this event. This achievement reflects not just the generosity of our sponsors and participants, but also the growing impact of our partnership with Dream On 3.
As we reflect on another successful Clay Shoot, we’re reminded that our industry’s strength lies not just in what we build, but in how we come together to support our community. The continued success of this event demonstrates the construction industry’s commitment to making a difference in the lives of children facing challenges.
Supporting Dream On 3
Supporting Dream On 3 can be as simple as spreading the word about their mission to create sports-related experiences for children facing life-altering medical conditions. Consider making a one-time donation or becoming a monthly donor to help bring more dreams to life. Businesses and organizations can also support by sponsoring events, partnering for Dream experiences, or engaging their employees through volunteer opportunities. Every contribution, large or small, makes a meaningful difference in the lives of these inspiring Dream Kids.
