Site Preparation Services
Large-scale earthmoving in the Carolinas that shapes your site and drives your project forward.
Success With Site Preparation Services
Mass grading is where site preparation shifts into high gear — when the vision starts taking shape. It's the stage where dirt moves, building pads form, access roads appear, and the groundwork for everything to come is laid. But this visible progress is only possible with a solid foundation: experienced planning, precise execution, and the right equipment. At HGC, we deliver all three. From early site prep to full-scale mass grading, our team transforms raw land into ready-to-build sites across the Carolinas — efficiently, safely, and with unmatched attention to detail.
Safety-First Mindset
Our experienced operators are extensively trained to handle complex grading projects safely and efficiently — protecting your site, your schedule, and every teammate involved.
Expert Planning Upfront
We take the guesswork out of grading with precise cut/fill calculations and detailed site assessments — minimizing surprises and costly delays.
Technology that Tracks Progress
We use GPS-guided equipment and drone monitoring to ensure accuracy, identify challenges early, and keep your project on schedule.
Integrated Services
With surveying, erosion control, and project management all under one roof, your project transitions smoothly from one phase to the next — no handoffs, no headaches.
.
Site Survey & Topo Mapping
We begin by running a site survey to capture accurate topography and elevations — ensuring a clear path for earthwork to begin.
Mobilization
Our heavy equipment arrives on site, ready to get to work. We stage resources and prepare for efficient earthmoving operations.
Mass Grading & Soil Compaction
Dirt starts moving. Our crews cut, fill, and compact the soil to meet project specifications — shaping pads, roads, and site contours.
Quality Control with Drone Monitoring
We conduct regularly scheduled drone flights to monitor progress and verify accuracy — keeping the project on track.
Ongoing Grading
Mass grading, while joined with utilities, continues with support and direction from our project teams — ensuring we stay aligned with engineered plans and catch issues early.
Transition to Fine Grading
Once mass grading and utilities are complete, we transition to fine grading — preparing for paving and vertical construction.
In 2023 & 2024, our teams moved 22 million CY of suitable cut.

Does HGC have internship opportunities?
Yes! We offer two internship paths to young adults seeking a career in the construction industry.
Our Dig In high school internship is a 6-week program built for high school students and recent graduates who are at least 18 years of age. This program provides invaluable exposure to various aspects of construction, helping young adults better understand their career paths while learning the basics of the sitework industry.
Our college internships provide customized, real-world experience that bring their curriculum to life. In the beginning, we work with each student to map out a customized internship, taking into consideration interests, past experience, as well as previous and future academic studies. Our goal is to provide a structured environment where interns are mentored, coached, upskilled, and developed in a way that allows them to reach their full potential.
