Griffith Lakes – Phase I

Location:

Charlotte, NC

Project Stats:

  • 600,000 CY of Earth Moved
  • 13,000 LF of Storm Drain

Project Details:

Our Griffith Lakes – Phase I project involved the total reconstruction of an existing earthen dam, completed in just 2 months—significantly ahead of the scheduled 4-5 months. Key to the success was the removal and replacement process, which required the installation of three temporary sediment basins with a clean water bypass. During construction, two culverts were dewatered and maintained to ensure a smooth transition. The new dam features a large culvert replacing the two smaller existing culverts, along with headwalls and a roadway constructed on top, effectively integrating with the existing drainage system. Throughout the project, we successfully maintained water levels on both sides of the dam. The team navigated these challenges with precise attention to detail and our work proudly withstood the impacts of Hurricane Helene.
